If you’re on a spring decluttering kick, chances are you’ve looked into various storage solutions, including bookshelves and storage cabinets. Both have their benefits, and can be great for different needs and areas. Why do shoppers love it?
Bookshelves tend to have a straightforward design, but this Costway option puts a unique twist on storage. Rather than standard tiers, the six compartments fit together almost like a puzzle. There are two one-door cabinets on opposite corners, along with four open shelves. Not only does it have a statement-making design, but it’s also super practical. The shelves offer open storage that’s great for decorative pieces, like vases, clocks, your favorite books, and plants. You can also pair them with stylish storage baskets to have some concealed storage that’s easy to access. The closed cabinets, on the other hand, give you the opportunity to hide away some clutter or not the most display-worthy items, like extra toilet paper or paper towels. It rests on splayed legs, giving it an almost retro feel.
The bookshelf and cabinet measure 31.5 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 47 inches tall with an overall frame that’s large enough to provide ample storage, but space-saving enough that it won’t be so obtrusive in a room. It’s made of medium-density fiberboard and weighs approximately 42 pounds. While some shoppers say that adding items to the bookshelf gives it more weight and stability, it comes with an anti-tip kit to attach it to the wall and give it even more security.
It comes in three colors that cater to different aesthetics. The white color looks very minimalist and Scandinavian, while the brown has a mid-century modern vibe. For a clean and modern look, the black colorway is the way to go.Â

Pros and cons
Pros
- Various storage options: There are six compartments with both open and closed storage opportunities, including four open shelves and two one-door cabinets.
- Multifunctional: It has a versatile style that can be used in a bedroom, living room, kitchen, or home office.Â
- Protective features: The bookcase and cabinet has anti-scratch foot pads and comes with an anti-tipping device to secure it to the wall for added safety.
Cons
- Assembly: Assembly time is mixed, as some reviewers said it was difficult to put together, and others said it took them less than one hour.
- Shallow: At just 9.5 inches wide, the bookcase isn’t very deep.Â
“Took a little while to assemble, but it feels stable and looks great. The shallow depth made it perfect to add storage in a small bathroom,” a shopper said. “Added bonus: The feet are taller than an average baseboard and allow the back of the cabinet to sit flush with the wall.”
Another reviewer said it’s the “perfect bookshelf for odds and ends storage.” They added, “I’ll probably buy another one of these even if I move to a larger home as it’s really versatile, looks way better than plastic or modular storage, and fits into tight pockets.”
