Things are heating up this summer, and I’m not just talking about the World Cup. Record temperatures are spreading across the globe, and people are shopping for ways to beat the heat. While a portable air conditioner is one way to keep your home cool, it can be an expensive option. While there are plenty of good deals on air conditioning units, you’ll still have to deal with higher-than-average electricity prices at the moment. Luckily, there are other options for keeping your space comfortable in the warmer months without adding a substantial amount to your monthly bills.

If the costs associated with a new AC unit don’t sound appealing to you, then you may want to consider investing in a new tower fan. While box fans and pedestal fans used to be the standard cooling option, tower fans have become much more popular in recent years. That’s because they offer a host of benefits that you don’t necessarily get with the more traditional ventilation options mentioned above. If you think that it’s time to up your cooling game but don’t want to up your budget, then you can’t go wrong with a tower fan.

Why tower fans are a great summer option

Tower fans have a few advantages over both pedestal and box fans that make them worth considering. Firstly, and most obviously, tower fans are incredibly slim and take up very little floor space. They’re ideal for placing in the corner of a room in order to keep the air flowing throughout. While the base of a pedestal fan is similar to the size of a tower fan’s base, the top portion of a pedestal fan is much larger. Because the blades are oriented in a circle, they take up much more space when oscillating. That means a pedestal fan simply cannot fit as deeply into a corner as a tower fan can.

Secondly, tower fans tend to be quieter than most other fans. That’s because they utilize cylindrical impellers to create airflow. Other fans, however, incorporate large broad-sided blades to create windflow. The larger the blades, typically the louder the fan. If you’re partial to white noise all summer long, then by all means opt for a pedestal fan or a box fan. However, if you like a fan that delivers good airflow without the deafening hum and buzz of giant blades lumbering through the air, then a tower fan is the best option.

Finally, most tower fans are more technologically advanced than the majority of more traditional fans. They often include complex remotes, multiple setting options, and many are even what you would consider smart fans. That means they have either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing you to program and control them from afar. Pedestal and box fans, on the other hand, usually employ simple mechanical push-button controls that don’t allow for a lot of customization.

The Vornado 143 Whole Room Tower Fan has everything you want in a cooling fan and more. Like most Vornado fans, it’s incredibly powerful. In fact, it can push air up to 60 feet, which is perfect for keeping your room fresh and cool, no matter the size. The fan also has an energy-saving timer function, three speed settings, and a remote control that sits comfortably in a cradle at the top of the fan. You won’t hear a whole lot from this quiet-operating fan, either, so don’t worry about having more than one in the same room. It’ll still be nice and quiet.
